1987 Maritime Simulation Institute established first multi-simulator training and research complex in the United States at Newport, Rhode Island. The complex contained the unique "Bridge Wing Simulator" with a deep vertical field of view of 45 degrees.
1987
Maritime Administration (MARAD) awarded Maritime Simulation Institute a contract to upgrade and operate the Computer Aided Operations Research Facility (CAORF) located at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY. Maritime Simulation Institute operated that facility, performing maritime research and training, until 1996.
1991 Municipal Port Authority of Rotterdam, the Netherlands entered a joint venture with Maritime Simulation Institute to establish a simulator research and training complex in the heart of Rotterdam. The facility opened in May 1994. Maritime Simulation Institute managed the complex until December 2000.
1993
Maritime Simulation Institute established a ship handling training complex on the Naval Station in San Diego, CA. It contained two Full Mission Bridges and a Bridge Wing simulator and remained in operation ttrough 2006.
1998
Maritime Simulation Institute established a ship handling training complex on the Naval Station in Norfolk, VA. It contains two Full Mission Bridges with 360 degree horizontal field of view and two Bridge Wing Simulators. Norfolk remained in operation through 2007.
2002 ABS Quality Evaluations, Inc. certified Maritime Simulation Institute's Quality Management System to design, develop, and conduct simulator based training and research for the maritime industry.
Today Maritime Simulation Institute continues to provide customized training and specialized research at its Newport facility.
